PRESS RELEASE:
Crossville, TN – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Crossville Police Department, Fairfield Glade Police Department, Cumberland County Emergency Medical Services, Crossville Fire Department, Cumberland County Fire Department, Tennessee Wildlife Management Agency, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Highway Patrol, joined forces for a comprehensive active shooter training exercise at Stone Elementary School.
The training exercise, aimed at enhancing preparedness and coordination in responding to active shooter situations, showcased the seamless collaboration among various law enforcement and emergency response agencies in Cumberland County. The Director of Schools, members of the Cumberland County School Board and the Cumberland County Commission were present to observe and support the training efforts.
The scenario-based training focused on strategies for neutralizing an active shooter threat, coordinating emergency medical responses, and efficiently triaging and evacuating casualties. By practicing these critical skills in a realistic setting, officers and first responders better equipped themselves to communicate, handle high-stress situations, and mitigate the impact of potential incidents.
Sheriff Casey Cox expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and professionalism exhibited by all participating agencies. “The safety and security of our community are paramount, and this coordinated training exercise underscores our commitment to working together to protect our residents,” Sheriff Cox stated. He also sent a special thanks to the Stone Memorial High School Criminal Justice Class members who served as role players to add a touch of realism to the training and to Stone Elementary School for the use of their facility.
The collaborative training initiative exemplifies the proactive approach taken by Cumberland County law enforcement and emergency response agencies to ensure an effective response to emergencies.
