This weekend was the unofficial start of the 38th consecutive 127 Yard Sale, which officially runs Thursday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4, 2024.
The 127 Yard Sale began in 1987 when former Fentress County Executive Mike Walker planned the event to draw tourists to the area. The “World’s Longest Yard Sale” now stretches some 690 miles along Highway 127 from Michigan to Alabama.
Also called the 127 Corridor Sale, it brings visitors from across the country and around the world, and an increase in road traffic. Motorists are urged to drive with patience and remember that tourists may be easily confused by all the road construction.
