Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris has announced that Lt. Jeremy Nash and Deputy Logan England have been presented with Life Saving Awards for how they responded when THP Trooper Adam Cothran was shot July 19th during a traffic stop on I-40 in Cookeville. The Putnam County Commission also recognized Lt. Nash and Deputy England for their heroic actions that night.
After seeing the amount of blood that Trooper Cothron had already lost, Lt. Nash made the decision to load Trooper Cothron into his patrol vehicle and transport him to the hospital as quickly as possible. They kept the Trooper calm and rendered first-aid en route to the hospital.
Lt. Nash and Deputy England’s quick actions enabled Trooper Cothron to receive the medical care he required in a timely manner which resulted in a more positive outcome for Trooper Cothron, according to the medical doctors.
Also, according to the Tennessee Commissioner of Safety and Homeland Security Jeff Long, the actions of the two Deputies on the scene most likely saved Trooper Cothron’s life.
