Putnam County Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Charges

A driver stopped last Friday (September 6, 2024) on I-40 in Putnam County now faces a host of drug and firearm charges.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Tony Lee McCloud was pulled over for possibly being impaired. Authorities say Mr. McCloud initially refused to get out of the vehicle and was later removed by officers.

As a result of the stop, as well as a vehicle search, approximately 43 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of crack cocaine, other various drug paraphernalia, a firearm and more than $8,300 in US currency was recovered.  It was determined that Mr. McCloud is a convicted felon.

McCloud was charged with possession of manufacture/sell/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of manufacture/sell/delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McCloud has a total bond of $248,300 with a court date set as October 7, 2024.
