The new AP Poll was released Sunday afternoon and the voters were impressed with the team from Rocky Top. The Tennessee Volunteers have moved up 4 spots to the 7th best team in the country. This jump in the polls comes after a thrilling 24-17 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Other Southeastern Conference schools were ranked as follows: #2 Georgia, #5 Texas, #8 LSU, #14 Texas A&M, #15 Alabama, #18 Ole Miss, #21 Missouri, and #25 Vanderbilt.
Although the weekend was a success for Tennessee, with beating Alabama and moving back into the Top 10, it would come with a cost. The University of Tennessee was fined by the SEC $100,000 for storming the field Saturday night. This is the second time in three years the Vols were fined by the SEC for rushing the field after wins over Alabama. This new rule set by the Southeastern Conference in 2023 states that the fine is will now be owed to the opposing institution.
#7 Tennessee will be back in action on November 2nd as they host boarder rival Kentucky. Coverage between the Volunteers and Wildcats can be heard on 102.5 WOW Country.
