The suspect in a plant shooting Friday morning (12/20/2024) in Overton County is dead following a standoff on I-40 in Roane County.
The shooting reportedly happened in the plant’s parking lot injuring two people with one person airlifted to the hospital. The suspect fled the scene in Livingston and headed east.
The standoff on I-40 began around 8:15 central time just north of Rockwood and shut down the interstate in both directions as troopers tried to negotiate with him. The suspect was reported deceased shortly after 10am from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
