Update 1/12/2025:
Oak Ridge Police are investigating a deadly crash that claimed the lives of a father and daughter on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, at approximately 8:55 a.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on South Rutgers Avenue near Manhattan Avenue left the roadway and struck the nearby Food City.
The driver has been identified as 66-year-old Alan Mitchell. He reportedly died at the scene. The passenger, 17-year-old Amber Mitchell, was injured and taken to a local hospital. She died after arriving at the hospital.
