Perdue Farms announces closure of Monterey facility

Maryland based Perdue Farms has announced they will be closing their plant located in Monterey. Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter released a statement from the company which said, “This decision comes as part of the company’s overall focus on continuous improvement and modernization to meet evolving consumer demand. We are committed to doing everything we can to help our associates through this transition and will be providing extended Worker Adjustment and Retraining protections for up to ten weeks as well as additional severance pay beyond the standard compensation.” The final day is set for March 28, 2025. In 2022, Perdue Farms was ranked 6^th in poultry production in the U.S.
