A bill introduced by Tennessee Senator Richard Briggs, of Knoxville, and Representative Kelley Keisling, of Byrdstown, could kill public comment on applications for new property development at city council and county commission meetings.
The Bill (SB137/HB183), “As introduced, requires a local legislative body to approve an application for a proposed development without allowing public comment, if the legislative body determines that the proposed development is in substantial compliance with the zoning regulations or map that was previously made available for public review and comment.”
If passed the bill will go into effect on July 1st.
