It was a rough weekend for the Tennessee Vols & Lady Vols basketball teams in the state capitol as both teams fell to Vanderbilt by 1 point.

It started Saturday as the 6th ranked Tennessee Volunteers took on the Commodores in Memorial Gymnasium. Tennessee were close to mounting a comeback against Vandy but the effort wasn’t enough. Vanderbilt knocked off Tennessee 76-75. Chaz Lanier scored 17 points and led the Vols in scoring. Jason Edwards led Vandy with 18 points.

On Sunday it was the #15 Lady Vols turn to take a crack at Vanderbilt. Just like their men counterparts they fell just short 71-70. Vandy defeated the Lady Vols on a jump shot as time expired. Talaysia Cooper had the most points for Tennessee with 20. Mikayla Blakes led Vanderbilt in scoring with 23 points.

The Vols and Lady Vols leave Nashville both dropping a game and will now have ranked opponents next. Tuesday the Volunteers return to Knoxville to take on #15 Mississippi State and the Lady Vols head to Austin on Thursday to take on #7 Texas.
