Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is warning about an email spoofing scam targeting its recipients.
This deceptive email containing the subject line: “Exciting News!” claims that Secretary Hargett has filed a sponsorship on an individual’s behalf in Tennessee; it also asks recipients to keep an eye out for an email directly from the Secretary, expressing a desire to personally connect.
This is a scam.
Most email communications from the Secretary of State’s office originate from tnsos.gov domains. They also feature additional contact information including signatures, division phone numbers, and mailing addresses.
