VEC Asks Members to Conserve Energy During Arctic Blast

By Peg Broadcasting News Feb 20, 2025 | 10:21 AM

Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) is asking members to conserve energy during the Artic blast. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has initiated Step 20 of the Emergency Load Curtailment Plan (ELCP). With Step 20, VEC is asking members of the cooperative to participate in a voluntary reduction in electrical load.  You can help by lowering your thermostat a few degrees, by turning off any non-essential lights or electronics, by avoiding the use of large appliances, and by conserving the use of hot water inside your homes. This is not mandatory but is a voluntary response to the TVA Step 20 request and VEC appreciates anything you can do to help conserve energy during this time. (Images courtesy VEC.)
