A man who wrecked while fleeing from a Rhea County Deputy now faces a host of charges. Last Saturday (February 22, 2025), Deputy Hannah Bredwell observed a vehicle traveling at almost 40mph over the posted speed limit in the North Dayton area and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle increased speed and fled North bound on Rhea County Highway and was later found wrecked into a tree. The driver had taken off on foot. One passenger located in the vehicle was transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The suspect, identified as Dakota Leffew, was found hiding by a creek. He has been charged with Felony Evading, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Exercise Due Care, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Speeding.
