Authorities say a teacher fatally shot himself at a West Tennessee high school this week. In a press release, the Munford Police Department said Samuel Colin Day was found deceased Thursday morning (3/6/25) in a classroom at Munford High School. They say Mr. Day died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred at approximately 6 am, well before students arrived for class.
Mr. Day reportedly served as the high school’s Special Education Director.
The Tipton County Board of Education released a statement saying they are mourning the tragic loss of a highly respected and valued member of their school family, and they offered prayers and condolences to Mr. Day’s loved ones, friends, and the entire staff and student body of Munford High School.
