Monday morning (3/10/2025), at Cookeville High School, a 16 year-old sophomore was charged with bringing and being in possession of a handgun, which turned out to be a BB pistol.
The juvenile said he was expecting to be in a confrontation with another student so he had borrowed the gun and brought it to school in anticipation of that confrontation. The juvenile had made comments to another student who then alerted the SRO Deputy and Administration at Cookeville High School about the handgun.
The student was arrested and transported to Putnam County Juvenile Detention and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on School Property. (Press Release courtesy PCSO)
