While responding to an illegal burn call on McLarty Lane, two firefighters and a police officers were splashed by raw sewage. According to Crossville Police Officer Shade Foster’s report, firefighters were at a Mclarty Lane residence to inform Ricky Gupton, age 30, that his burn permit for the day was revoked. Firefighters also questioned him about an open sewer cover that had sewage flowing into the yard. Gupton, upset at the revocation of the burn permit, reportedly slammed the cover onto the manhole, splashing raw sewage on firefighters and Officer Foster. Gupton reportedly continued to respond to authorities in an aggressive manner and was arrested for three counts of Assault on a First Responder.
