It was a historic night for Tennessee Softball’s Junior pitcher Karlyn Pickens.
Monday night as Tennessee took down Arkansas Karlyn Pickens came into the game and shattered the record books. According to a game recap by Tennessee Athletics, In the sixth inning, Pickens made history by throwing the fastest pitch in softball history at 78 mph, surpassing the previous record of 77 mph. The previous mark had been set by Tennessee legend Monica Abbott in 2012 as a professional with the Chicago Bandits and was matched by Pickens earlier this season.
The 10th ranked Lady Vols return to the diamond for a weekend series against the #2 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman March 28-30th. Friday and Sunday’s games will air on SEC Network+ with Saturday’s game on ESPN at 1:00 PM.
