Provisions in the City of Crossville Charter pose challenges for the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority

Cumberland Plateau Water Authority General Manager Jeff Dyer told board members Monday that provisions in the City of Crossville’s charter could pose challenges to a potential merger or partnership. While the City has been cooperative in ongoing discussions, Dyer noted that its charter is unique in Tennessee—offering specific protections for Meadow Park Lake and allowing constituents to call for a referendum should the City pursue a merger. Despite these hurdles, Dyer expressed satisfaction with the progress so far and added that raising the Meadow Park Lake dam remains a real possibility.
