The Cumberland Plateau Water Authority met in regular session Monday to discuss the upcoming consolidation with the Crab Orchard Utility District. County Mayor Allen Foster is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the proposed merger on May 12. After the hearing, he will have 30 days to issue an order setting an official effective date for the consolidation. Although May 19 is currently being considered, several board members expressed concern about the short turnaround. Chairman Greg Hanson said he was not confident the board is fully prepared to meet that timeline. To allow for further discussion, the authority has scheduled a special called meeting for May 15, following the public hearing, to address matters related to the merger. The Public Hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Community Complex, while the CPWA Special Call is set for May 15 at Noon at the Crab Orchard Utility District office.
The Crab Orchard Utility will hold a special called meeting at noon on May 13, 2025. The meeting will be held at the Crab Orchard Utility Office, 2089 East First Street Crossville, Tennessee. The purpose of the meeting is to approve the minutes of the April 8th meeting, and consider an agreement with the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority.
