The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in southern Cumberland County at 7:29pm Tuesday along Vandever Road near New Era causing timber damage and minor structural damage to homes. It traveled almost 5 miles packing winds of 105 miles per hour. As the tornado moved east northeast, more substantial timber damage was noted along with two homes that had roof removal or damage in the Big Lick area. The tornado continued to produce timber and power line damage along Rhea Road until it lifted near the intersection of Rhea Road and Old State Highway 28.
In an update Wednesday morning (5/21/2025), the Crossville/Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency said 5 homes and one Cumberland County Fire Department Station were damaged in the Vandever Road/Dunbar Road area. Of the 5 homes, 3 have major damage and the other 2 have minor damage.
Most importantly, there have been no injuries reported from civilians or emergency personnel.
The National Weatther Service also confimed an EF-0 touch down in north Clarksville, an EF-0 touch down in south Clarksville, causing mostly tree and minor structure damage.
Preliminary information also indicates that touched down in Oliver Springs in East Tennessee.
