The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Â released preliminary enforcement results on Tuesday for the 84-hour Memorial Day holiday period, which began at 6pm Friday and ended at 5:59 a.m. on Tuesday.
During this time, the THP investigated five fatal crashes, which resulted in eight fatalities. This marks a significant decrease compared to the 14 fatalities recorded during the 2024 Memorial Day holiday period.
Of the fatal crashes:
Four were single-vehicle incidents, while one involved multiple vehicles.
One (13%) of the fatalities was alcohol-related.
Six (75%) of those killed were motor vehicle occupants. All reportedly were wearing safety restraints.
Two motorcyclists were killed; one was wearing a helmet.
Tragically, there was a fatality every 5 hours and 30 minutes on Tennessee’s roadways during the 2025 Memorial Day holiday period.
