Commission Approves Policy Updates, Budget Amendments at June Meeting

The Cumberland County Commission, in regular session on Monday, approved several resolutions, including updates to the county’s personnel policy and a series of budget amendments to address departmental needs. A resolution clarifying rules concerning overtime, compensatory time, longevity pay, discipline, and on-call pay for the Highway Department. Updates to the policy will be posted online within the week. In the financial report, the Codes Department reported the issuance of 24 residential building permits and a total of $31,663 in collected fees for May. The EMS Department reported $432,002 in collections for the month,  surpassing expectations and putting year-to-date totals $453,744 above projections. While May sales tax collections for the Board of Education fell short of expectations by $39,103, year-to-date totals remain $99,749 above projections. Hotel/motel tax collections are on track at 78% of the annual goal, and prisoner boarding collections have reached $361,825, nearing the $386,952 target.
