By Ronni Chase Jun 20, 2025 | 11:07 AM

On his Facebook page, White County Sheriff Steve Page is advising everyone about the updates to the courtroom dress code.

In White County courtrooms, the existing prohibitions on shorts and hats will continue to be enforced, beginning July 1st.  Those appearing in court must also observe the following:

  • Dresses and skirts must extend 2 inches below the knee
  • No straps on shirts and dresses, shoulders must be covered in court
  • No sunglasses
  • No cropped tops or excessive exposed skin
  • No bare feet
  • Pants are to be worn at waist level
  • No bags are permitted in the courtroom

Failure to abide by the dress code may prohibit your entry to White County courtrooms with no excuse from the Judge.

Remember that items such as weapons, tobacco products, and cell phones remain prohibited in the courtroom. (Image courtesy White County Sheriff Steve Page Facebook.)
