Deputy Critically Injured in Knox County Attack, Suspect in Custody

A Knox County deputy remains in critical condition following a violent attack Saturday night in Powell. Deputies responded to a reported shooting on Stanley Road around 10 p.m. Deputy Dalton Swanger was injured during a confrontation with the suspect, who allegedly struck him with a large rock or brick, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Swanger was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition. By Sunday afternoon, authorities arrested 44-year-old Christopher Michael Hensley of Powell in connection to the attack. He faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault on a first responder, domestic assault, firearm possession with intent, and drug-related offenses.
