In a special called session of the Crossville City Council on Tuesday, council members approved the 3rd and final reading of the budget for fiscal year 2025-26. General fund revenue for the upcoming year that begins July 1st was projected at $36.5 million against an estimated $36.1 million in expenditures. The vote was 3-2 after some discussion to reinstate several non-profit agencies who had requested funding but were cut. Mayor Crawford noted that while the agencies were all worthwhile causes, he felt that council should have a discussion with the finance director to set guidelines and consider potential contributions in next year’s budget. Council also approved the last reading of the tax rate for the next year. The rate for property tax in the city limits of Crossville will remain unchanged at .6059 cents per $100 of assessed value.
