Under the new Education Freedom Act that goes into effect July 1st, up to 20,000 students in Tennessee will be eligible to receive roughly $7,000 in public funds to attend private schools. The $500 million program also includes financial compensation for public schools that lose students to private institutions. Lawmakers say it empowers parents with more school choice options.
