Baby Abandoned in Dyer County, TN

Public Assistance Needed in Identifying Abandoned Infant and Suspect

DYER COUNTY, TN [July 29, 2025]- At approximately 3:11 PM today, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a concerning incident on Old Highway 20 near the Tigrett area. A dark-colored minivan or a white mid-size SUV was reported to have dropped off an infant in a car seat at a random individual’s front yard. Thankfully a witness saw the car seat with the child and called 911.

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, is actively investigating this situation. Currently, details are very limited as we are in the early stages of this investigation.

Medical Center EMS and Crockett County Ambulance Service was called to evaluate the child. This is a picture just taken of the child in the arms of a loving paramedic.

We urge the public to assist us by keeping an eye out for the described vehicles. If you have any information that may help identify the abandoned child or the individuals involved, please contact the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office.
