A Crossville man was charged after police say he led them on two different chases. Friday (9/5/2025) shortly before noon, a Cumberland County Deputy was patrolling Cowpen Road when he observed a vehicle cross the center line and the driver not wearing a seat belt. The Deputy pursued the vehicle and later found it abandoned on a dirt trail off Sandy Creek Road. The driver, who got away, was identified as 40-year-old Sammy Spivey. Around 10:30am Sunday (9/7/2025) another Deputy spotted the suspect vehicle traveling on Highway 70 North and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled again. The vehicle turned behind a residence on Linder Loop and the driver fled on foot. He was caught and identified as Sammy Spivey. The vehicle is registered to Spivey’s girlfriend who reportedly confirmed that he was driving during both police chases. Mr. Spivey has been charged with Felony Evading Arrest.
