The cities of Dayton and Sparta have each received a $48,000 Parks and Recreation Planning Grant. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) said $968,000 was awarded to 18 communities across the state. The Planning Grant Program provides state funding to match local government investments for communities who want to create or update a Parks and Recreation Systemwide Plan. This is an 80 percent state and 20 percent community matching grant.
