According to a press release, Sgt. John Coley has been terminated from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office following the initiation of a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) case at the request of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. His dismissal stems from violations of departmental ethics policies and conduct unbecoming of an officer, the release stated.
Coley joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2022, received the Operator of the Year Award for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team in 2024, and was promoted this year to Patrol Sergeant. (Photos courtesy Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office)
