It was a battle of the UT’s on Tuesday as the University of Texas travelled to Knoxville to take on the University of Tennessee. The Vols, ranked 21st in the country, were looking for their first SEC win of the season and thanks to a career outing by Greeneville native Ja’Kobi Gillespie the Vols got that first conference win of the season downing the Longhorns 85-71.
Ja’Kobi put up 34 points on the night, and had 5 assists and 4 rebounds to go with it. Three other Volunteers scored in double figures with J.P. Estrella scoring 11 points, while Jalen Carey and DeWayne Brown had 10 points a piece. The Longhorns would have three players to score in double figures with Tramon Mark leading the way with 20 points. Cameron Heide was behind him with 16 points and Simeon Wilcher would knock in 10 points.
