Jackson County Sheriff Marty Hinson is thanking the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Gainesboro Police Department and Jackson County First Responders for their assistance in ending a violent standoff with Jackson County Deputies. It began Saturday night in the Cub Creek area after deputies were dispatched to a man with a gun call who had allegedly fired at another individual. Upon arrival the suspect reportedly started firing at the Deputies. A perimeter was set up and Putnam County SWAT moved in and took the suspect into custody. The suspect, Billy Joe Sherrill, is facing multiple counts of Attempted First Degree Murder on Law Enforcement Officers. (Photo courtesy Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.)
