Grandview Fire Department Mourns Loss of Charles Farris Dye Sr., 83

Grandview District 720 Rhea County Fire Department is mourning the loss of Charles Farris Dye Sr., who passed away at his residence on Saturday (2/7/2026). He was 83.  Mr. Dye helped to organize the Grandview Fire Department along with the late Johnnie Lemons.  He ran his own store, Dye’s Grocery, in Grandview for many years before becoming a Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service.  He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as an ordained Deacon. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty Ruth Monday Dye, numerous children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sister.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 4pm in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
