On Wednesday, April 15, 2026 the Internal Revenue Service announced that tax relief has been expanded to Tennessee taxpayers in ALL 95 counties. Tennessee taxpayers now have until June 8, 2026, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. Prior to the announcement only select counties impacted by Winter Storm Fern in January were granted the extension to file, which was May 22, 2026.
Tennessee residents don’t have to apply for this extension. The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers located in the covered disaster area and applies filing and payment relief.
