The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in scams targeting our community.
The Sheriff’s Office offers the following advice to protect yourself:
- Do NOT click links in unsolicited emails or private messages
- Do NOT trust phone numbers sent to you
- Do NOT use Bitcoin ATM machines for any requested payment
If anyone asks for your personal information or money—STOP.
Call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office BEFORE you act.
Once money is sent—especially through cryptocurrency, gift cards, or wire transfers—the chances of getting it back are extremely low.
Stand alert. Verify everything. Protect your family and neighbors.
