TDOT Help truck operator Chester Hembree was the first to respond Friday (6/5/2026) after a woman went into labor in her vehicle on I-40 eastbound in Knox County. The woman had just delivered the baby, but told Hembree the baby hadn’t cried. He cleared the baby’s airway and helped get the child to cry and breath regularly. TDOT said KPD and EMTs arrived soon after and took the mom and baby to the hospital. Both were reportedly in stable condition. (Photo courtesy TDOT)
