For the second straight week both high schools on the plateau fall in the loss column.
Cumberland County celebrated home coming against the Hustlin’ Tigers of Howard Tech. The Jets went up 20-8 over the Tigers at halftime, however in the second half Howard came back and went ahead. The game came to the last play with 1 second left the Jets had the ball on the 5 yard line but couldn’t find the endzone. Howard completes the comeback and spoils CCHS’s homecoming 36-28. The Jets fall to 0-5 and will be back at home next week for a game against McMinn Central.
Stone Memorial also had homecoming Friday night which saw the Panthers host a recent rival in the Loudon Redskins. Loudon dominated the start jumping to a 21-0 lead however the Panthers roared back to go to halftime only trailing 28-21. Unfortunately, Stone went scoreless in the second half leading to the Redskins dropping the Panthers with a 35-21 score. Stone’s losing streak extends to two and drop below .500 with a 2-3 record. Stone hits the road for their final non-region game of the season with a game against Warren County.
CCHS’s game against McMinn Central can be heard on 102.5 WOW Country Friday night while Stone’s game against the Pioneers can be heard on MIX 99.3.
