SHERIFF’S OFFICE SUMMARIZES RECENT INCIDENT REPORTS
Crossville, Tennessee – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is providing the following summaries of recently approved incident reports. Incident dates are identified below, including earlier events.
Controlled Substances
September 30 – Drug Arrest: A deputy stopped a pickup truck on Sawmill Road after observing it traveling 45 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. Following a narcotics-detection dog’s alert, deputies searched the vehicle and reported finding approximately 2.81 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe. Gary Allen Haney, age 31, was arrested on a methamphetamine-possession charge and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received a speeding citation. The suspected substance was placed into evidence for laboratory testing.
October 1 – Drug Arrest and Traffic Citations: A traffic stop on Sawmill Road led to a vehicle search in which a deputy reported finding approximately one gram of suspected methamphetamine in a passenger’s purse. Codie Nicole Larson, age 35, was arrested and charged with simple possession of methamphetamine. Driver Emily Carol Bradley, age 45, received citations for driving on a suspended license, no insurance, and expired registration; she was not taken into custody. The suspected substance was placed into evidence for laboratory testing.
October 1 – Suspicious Vehicle Investigation: Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle remaining near a campground bathhouse on City Lake Road. According to the report, a search resulted in the recovery of two glass pipes and approximately 4.45 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Nicholas James Brown, age 22, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The suspected substance was placed into evidence for laboratory testing.
September 25 – Traffic Stop and Vehicle Return: A deputy stopped a pickup truck in the Vandever area after observing it cross the lane boundary repeatedly. Deputies also confirmed that the owner had requested assistance getting the vehicle returned. During a search, deputies seized suspected marijuana and other items for disposal. The driver was released and returned the truck to its owner. No arrest or citation was documented.
September 24 – Drug Citation: Fairfield Glade Police stopped a pickup truck on Peavine Road after observing a seatbelt violation. During a consent search, an officer found a syringe containing a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Eric Lynn Bullard, age 40, received a misdemeanor citation for simple possession of methamphetamine and was released from the scene. He was not taken into custody.
Warrant Service
September 30 – Probation Violation: Jennah-Ann Mae Walker, age 25, was taken into custody in the General Sessions courtroom and escorted to the booking area. A warrant for violation of probation was served on her. The report documents warrant service only.
September 30 – Failure to Appear: Andre Mawusi Zakiya, age 60, was transported from the Davidson County Jail to the Cumberland County Justice Center. Corrections personnel served an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant. The report documents transport and warrant service only.
September 30 – Probation Violation: Jonathan Shane Spurrier, age 35, turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office lobby. He was escorted to intake, where personnel served a probation-violation warrant.
September 30 – Failure to Appear: Michael Andrew Adams, age 29, turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office lobby. He was escorted to intake, where personnel served a failure-to-appear warrant.
October 1 – Failure to Appear: Deputies located Kimberly Paige Long, age 52, at a business in Westel after confirming an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant. Long was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where the warrant was served.
October 1 – Probation Violation: Deputies took Kristy Lynn McDonald, age 44, into custody on an outstanding local probation-violation warrant. She was transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking and warrant service.
September 17 – Failure to Appear: Fairfield Glade Police located Dwight Adam Delk, age 49, at a business on Peavine Road. After confirming his identity and an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant, officers arrested Delk and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.
October 2 – Probation Violation: William Dewayne Jackson, age 42, was taken into custody and served with an outstanding probation-violation warrant. The report documents warrant service only.
October 2 – Failure to Appear: Collin Loranzy Kemmer, age 20, was taken into custody and served with an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant. The report documents warrant service only.
October 2 – Failure to Appear: Deputies conducting a warrant-service attempt located Elizabeth Danielle Henry, age 41, during a traffic stop. Henry was arrested on an outstandingfailure-to-appear warrant and transported to the Justice Center, where the warrant was served.
October 6 – Probation Violation: Probation and Parole personnel notified deputies that AlexMichael Tirenin, age 34, was at their office and had an active probation-violation warrant. Adeputy took Tirenin into custody and transported him to the Sheriff’s Office intake for booking.
October 6 – Probation Violations: Jeffery Russell Hubbs, age 22, was transported from Knox County to Cumberland County, where personnel served two Circuit Court probation-violation warrants. The report documents transport and warrant service only.
Reported Scam
September 30 – Suspected Bank-Impersonation Scam: A resident reported receiving calls from people claiming to represent a bank’s fraud department. The callers sent a link and instructed the resident to use it to verify another account. The resident notified both banks and requested documentation. No financial loss or fraudulent charges were reported, and no suspect had been identified.
September 30 – Reported Threats: A person reported being threatened while retrieving belongings from a property. A deputy spoke with the complainant and a witness, documented their statements, and referred the complainant to the Judicial Commissioner regarding a criminal summons. No arrest or charge was documented in the report.
September 29 – Suspected Identity Theft: A resident reported receiving a bank card for an account they had not opened. According to the complainant, the bank confirmed that an account had been created using their information and blocked an attempted mobile deposit. The account was closed, and a deputy documented the complaint. No suspect was identified or arrested.
Traffic Enforcement
September 20 – Driving Under the Influence: Fairfield Glade Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Westchester Drive near Brambleton Court. According to the report, the vehicle left the roadway and entered a wooded area. Following the investigation, Jutta Marianne Hornbeck, age 74, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. A blood sample was collected pursuant to a search warrant, and the damaged vehicle was towed.
Reported September 25 – Vehicle Damage: Deputies investigated a minor collision reportedly occurring on September 17 in the Cherokee Trail area. A resident reported that another vehicle struck a car parked in a driveway. Deputies documented minor damage and spoke with those involved. No citation or arrest was documented.
October 1 – Revoked License: A deputy stopped a vehicle near Lantana Road and Dunbar Road after recognizing the driver and identifying registration concerns. Kyle James Fiste, age 32, was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license. The vehicle was towed.
October 1 – Revoked License: A deputy stopped a vehicle on Dunbar Road and confirmed through dispatch that the driver’s license was revoked. Catherine Nolan Kennedy, age 65, was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license. She was transported to intake, and the vehicle was towed.
October 5 – Revoked License: A deputy stopped a vehicle in the Brewer Road area after observing the driver without a seatbelt. A records check confirmed that Benjamin Lane Reece, age 41, had a revoked driver’s license. Reece received a citation for driving on a revoked license and remained at the scene awaiting a licensed driver. He was not taken into custody.
Impaired Driving and Public Intoxication
October 2–3 – Driving Under the Influence: Deputies stopped an SUV near Fourth Street and Evelyn Avenue after observing it swerve and occupy multiple lanes. Following an investigation and field sobriety testing, Rebecca Jean Hobbs, age 43, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Blood samples were collected pursuant to a search warrant for laboratory testing.
October 3 – Two Arrests: Deputies encountered Emilee Nicole Aytes, age 29, near Glory Loop and confirmed an outstanding probation-violation warrant. She was arrested and transported to jail for warrant service. In a separate contact documented in the same report, a deputy encountered John Erik Dishman Jr., age 44, walking on Lantana Road. After observing signs of impairment and determining that he presented a danger to himself and the public, the deputy arrested Dishman for public intoxication.
Reported Threats
October 3 – Harassment Complaint: A complainant reported receiving verbal threats during a telephone conversation and a threatening text message. A deputy documented the complaint as a matter of record. No arrest or charge was recorded.
October 6 – Reported Threats: A complainant reported receiving threatening messages following a dispute with a former employer, including threats of physical harm. The complainant also reported suspected harassment near their residence. A deputy documented the allegations. No arrest or charge was recorded.
Reported October 6 – Vehicle-Related Harassment: A resident reported repeated incidents involving a pickup truck passing their home at high speed while its occupants allegedly honked and shouted. A deputy reviewed video but could not identify the driver or license plate. The person accused denied involvement, and no matching vehicle was observed during the follow-up contact. No arrest or charge was documented.
Order of Protection
October 3 – Firearm Possession: Deputies responded to a complaint about gunfire in the Lawton Brown Road area. During the investigation, they confirmed that Claude Alexander Ford, age 26, was subject to an order of protection prohibiting firearm possession. Ford was arrested and charged with violation of an order of protection. The rifle was placed with a family member for safekeeping, with instructions not to return it to Ford.
Privacy Complaint
September 30 – Unlawful Photography: A person reported that a coworker photographed them inside a closed restroom stall and sent the photograph to their employer. A deputy reviewed a screenshot documenting the reported photograph and message. Randall D. Vicars, age 46, received a citation for disseminating unlawful photographs on September 30. He was not booked into jail in this report.
Fraud
September 30 – Sheriff’s Office Impersonation Scam: A resident reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be a Sheriff’s Office sergeant. The caller alleged that the resident had missed jury duty and demanded payment to avoid possible detention. The resident reported sending $2,000 before notifying their bank of the suspected fraud. No suspect was identified or arrested in the report.
Theft
October 1 – Reported Construction-Site Theft: A resident reported that a garage door opener was missing from a home under construction in the Browntown Road area. A deputy documented the suspected theft and requested purchase information. The resident also requested extra patrols. No suspect was identified or arrested in the report.
October 3 – Reported Unauthorized Transactions: Two complainants reported that a phone had previously been stolen in Ohio and that three unauthorized Cash App transactions totaling $150 were pending against a linked bank account. A deputy reviewed the reported transactions and documented the complaint. No arrest was recorded.
October 4 – Phone Recovered: Deputies investigated a report that a cellphone had been taken from a residence without permission. They located Devon Marrie Poindexter, age 35, recovered the phone, and returned it to its owner. Poindexter was arrested and charged with theft of property.
October 4 – Damaged Mailboxes: A deputy responded to a vandalism complaint on Pomona Road and found two damaged mailboxes. According to the report, the damage appeared consistent with a vehicle leaving the roadway and striking them. No responsible person was identified, and no arrest was documented.
Reported October 6 – Unauthorized Entry: A complainant reported that a tenant had entered their home without permission around October 2 or 3, reportedly to obtain cleaning supplies. The complainant did not believe anything was missing. A deputy documented the complaint; no arrest or charge was recorded.
October 3 – Vehicle Damage: A resident reported that a neighbor threw rocks at their vehicle during a dispute about noise. The responding officer observed scratches on the vehicle and spoke with the accused person, who denied involvement. Available security footage could not clarify what happened. The complainant was advised of the criminal-summons process. No arrest was documented.
Disturbance and Other Calls
October 1 – Property Dispute: Deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the White Hall Road area. Their investigation instead involved allegations of trespassing, rock throwing, and damage to a pump house. Deputies obtained statements but could not establish when the apparent damage occurred. No charges were filed, and those involved were advised of available court processes and an existing property restriction.
Death Investigation
October 1 – Deputies responded after a person was found deceased during a welfare check. An investigator was notified, and EMS transported the deceased to Cumberland Medical Center. According to the report, deputies observed no apparent indication of foul play. Personal and medical details are withheld from this summary due to notification of next of kin. Classified as a natural death.
October 2 – Emergency Response: A deputy responded to a report of an unresponsive person and performed CPR until EMS arrived. Despite continued lifesaving efforts, the person died. An investigator was notified, and the report documented no indication of suspected foul play. Personal and medical details are withheld from this summary.
October 6 – Emergency Response: Deputies and EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a residence. EMS found no signs of life, and an investigator responded to process the scene. According to the report, there was no indication of suspected foul play at that time. Personal and medical details are withheld from this summary.
