Both Cumberland County and Stone Memorial on the road Friday night with both teams finding the loss column.
Cumberland County headed east to Roane County to take on Rockwood. The Tigers had the Jets down at half 42-0 and that’s the way the final score would end up. CCHS falls to 0-8 on the season and will be off next Friday because of the bye week.
The Stone Memorial Panthers were stunned in Overton County. The Livingston Academy Wildcats pulled off the upset heard around the region knocking off SMHS 24-19. The Panthers held the Cats to just 3 points in the second half after trailing 21-7 at half but Stone couldn’t score enough to complete the comeback. SMHS falls to 3-5 on the year and are in must win mode for the final two games for a shot at the playoffs. Stone will be off next week just like CCHS because of their bye week.
Both teams will return to action on October 23rd when CCHS travels to Jackson County while the Panthers will be home against DeKalb County for their first of two must-win region games. CCHS games can be heard on 102.5 WOW Country while SMHS can be heard on MIX 99.3.
