NWS Confirms EF-0 tornado in Pleasant Hill, Schools Closed Friday, April 9, 2021

The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee on Thursday afternoon.  The tornado caused minor damage at Pleasant Hill Elementary and there were students inside the school when the storm hit but reportedly no students were hurt.  All students and faculty were accounted for.   According to a press release,  emergency crews were dispatched around 3:17 pm Thursday to the area of Pleasant Hill Elementary for a severe weather event. Upon arrival, it was determined that only minor injuries were sustained and no one was transported due to injury. Pleasant Hill Elementary, Fletcher House, and the Community House did sustain some damage.  Trees were uprooted near the school, bringing down power lines and numerous trees and other debris had to be cleared from the roads.  Due to assessment of damages, Cumberland County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, April 9.

Emergency Management Agency requests that everyone avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to continue their work.
