Two California men have been arrested for fraudulently obtaining prescriptions at multiple pharmacies in Crossville. Local police were alerted after one drug store realized the prescription was fake. Police were waiting when 33-year-old Renaldo James Hernandez attempted to pick up the order for Amoxicillin, Prednisone and Promethazine/Codeine cough syrup. Officers found Hollis Eugene Barnes sitting in the passenger seat of the suspects’ rental car. Both men smelled strongly of burnt marijuana. Police seized over $300 cash from Barnes and more than $5,600 cash and credit cards from Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Barnes were both charged with several counts of drug possession and Criminal Simulation and taken to the Cumberland County Justice Center. Hernandez’s bond was set at $118,000. According to reports, an unidentified female assisted in at least one prescription fraud and the investigation is ongoing.
